Exposure to Sun Causes Non-Melanoma Skin CancerNovember 9th, 2012 | Posted by in Light Therapy for Skin Information
Non-melanoma skin cancer is causing havoc in UK currently. A staggering number of 100000 people have been stricken with the disease which is mainly caused by exposure to sunlight. The main culprit is the harmful ultraviolet rays emitted by the sun. So, the best way to keep the disease at bay is to limit sun exposure or avoid it completely. Other factors like having a history of sunburnt skin, intake of medicines that suppress the immune system and genetic predispositions also make people susceptible to the disease. Also, there is a belief that only skin burns can cause this cancer. However, this is not true, as the cancer can be contracted from sun exposure easily whether it induces a sunburn or not.
