Light therapy has proven to be effective in treating various depression conditions and also seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Now, it is being proposed as a non-pharmacological treatment for depression during pregnancy. Depression during pregnancy affects the health of mother and child enormously. A medical study conducted on this subject was published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. In this study, it was found that morning bright light therapy is more effective than other types of light therapies. Also, this light was usually administered within 10 minutes of waking up. Its result was positive and it did not even pose any risk to the fetus.
